Welcome to our Unplugged Village®
Since 2009, hundreds of thousands of Global (formerly National) Day of Unplugging participants have joined the movement to elevate human connection over digital engagement in their cities across the globe.
Fairmount Park Conservancy has joined the movement and is here to help you find mindful people, places and programs in the Philadelphia area. Fairmount Park Conservancy's public programs offer meaningful connections with nature and fellow nature lovers happen every week! They celebrated NDU 2022 with some amazing programs of yoga and bird watching.
In 2025 we are excited to include artist Sheryl Oring into the Philly mix. For 20 years, Sheryl has crisscrossed the country dressed as a 1960s secretary with her vintage typewriter documenting the nation’s hopes and fears through her "I Wish to Say" project. Using carbon paper, she creates two copies of each message: one sent to the White House, the other preserved in an archive now containing nearly 5,000 postcards from across the nation. Her book, “Activating Democracy: The I Wish to Say Project,” was published by University of Chicago Press.
